EXT. TRAIN STATION – NIGHT
Freddy gets off the engine train wearing his hat and carrying his coat over one arm. He looks for someone who might be there to meet him. The train leaves. The station is completely deserted. A sudden gust of wind blows an old newspaper past Freddy. From the distant shadows Freddy hears the sound of someone approaching. The sound comes closer and closer but it is so dark and foggy that not definite form can be perceived. Finally, there is: A CRACK OF LIGHTNING! Illuminating a face, one foot away from Freddy’s.
IGOR - Dr Frankenstein?
FREDDY -Fron kon steen!
IGOR - You're putting me on.
FREDDY - No. It's pronounced Fronkonsteen.
IGOR - Do you also say FRO dorick?
FREDDY - No. Frederick.
IGOR - Why isn't it Frodorick Fronkonsteen?
FREDDY - It isn't. It's Frederick Fronkonsteen.
IGOR - I see.
Now Freddy can see the whole man facing him. He’s a strange fellow with a hunched back.
FREDDY - You must be Igor.
Igor thinks a moment.
IGOR - No. It's pronounced AYE gor.
FREDDY - But they told me it was EE gor.
IGOR - Well, they were wrong then, weren't they?
FREDDY - You were sent by Herr Falkstein, weren't you?
IGOR - Yes. My grandfather used to work for your grandfather.
FREDDY - How nice.
IGOR - Of course, the rates have gone up.
FREDDY - Of course. I'm sure we'll get along splendidly.
In his uneasiness, Freddy slaps Igor on his hump.
Sorry. I... You know, I don't mean to embarrass you,but I'm a rather brilliant surgeon. Perhaps I could help you with that hump.
IGOR - What hump?
FREDDY - Let's go.
He reaches down to take his briefcase. Igor grabs it first and walks off -- leaving Freddy to struggle with the large suitcase. He follows after Igor. They pass under a dangling sign:
“TRANSYLVANIA STATION”
